Probius, a Propel(x) portfolio company and a spin-off from Stanford University, has received a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to support the advancement of its tuberculosis (TB) diagnostics technology.
Probius combines biology and artificial intelligence to make it easier to study disease and predict outcomes from biological samples. The Gates Foundation grant will help accelerate the development of Probius’ Quantum Electrochemical Spectroscopy (QES) platform, a novel approach that could significantly improve TB testing – particularly in low- and middle-income countries.
The QES platform is designed to operate without sample preparation, requires minimal training, and functions effectively in resource-limited settings. These capabilities have the potential to make TB diagnostics faster, more accessible, and more scalable, addressing one of the world’s most persistent public health challenges.
Tuberculosis remains one of the leading infectious disease killers globally, and innovations like QES could play a transformative role in expanding early detection and improving patient outcomes worldwide.
We congratulate Emmanuel Quevy, co-founder & CEO, and the entire Probius team on this important milestone.
