Tandem PV Advances High-Efficiency Solar Technology
Solar energy continues to play a critical role in the global transition to cleaner power. As demand for renewable energy grows, improving solar panel efficiency remains one of the industry’s biggest opportunities.
Propel(x) listed company Tandem PV is helping address this challenge through its next-generation perovskite-silicon tandem solar technology. The company recently announced several milestones that demonstrate its progress toward commercial-scale deployment.
Tandem PV Solar Technology Reaches New Efficiency Levels
One of the company’s most significant achievements is the development of a 30.4%-efficient perovskite-silicon tandem solar module. This efficiency level exceeds the practical limits of conventional silicon solar panels and represents an important step forward for the solar industry.
The module is also advancing through third-party certification, helping validate its performance and commercial readiness.
Expanding Manufacturing Capacity
Tandem PV recently opened a 40 MW commercial demonstration manufacturing facility in Fremont, California. The 65,000-square-foot facility marks the company’s transition from laboratory innovation to commercial production.
The new facility is producing solar panels approximately 60 times larger than the company’s original research devices. It is expected to support customer validation trials and large-format manufacturing development ahead of broader commercialization.
Strengthening Leadership and Commercial Readiness
The company also expanded its leadership team with the appointment of former U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm to its Board of Directors.
In addition, Tandem PV has begun producing initial modules from its Fremont facility. Customer validation shipments are planned for this year, while high-volume manufacturing is targeted for 2028.
These developments highlight Tandem PV’s continued progress in bringing high-efficiency solar technology from the lab to commercial scale while supporting domestic clean-energy manufacturing.
