Series A Financing

Series A financing has been historically referred to a company’s first financing round with institutional venture capital investors. Today Series A financing more broadly means the first financing round after a company’s seed financing. Convertible preferred stock is often issued in this round of financing, and so this round may also be referred to a “Series A Preferred Stock Financing” or a “Series A Convertible Preferred Stock Financing.”
